CONima, inc. was founded in 2004 to bridge the gap between the technical knowledge base of most firms and the typical design staff. Throughout the competition of recent years, architecture firms have taken an approach of growth through specialization. In this desire to increase production and revenue, the field itself has become increasingly separated from its original purpose, the combination design and technology art and craft. As a manager in a large firm, Eric Parker became increasingly aware that communication breakdowns were highly likely in this system where a single project can commonly be split between up to four teams of people:
While this system makes for production efficiencies, the inherent problem is that the client's needs are established in programming, then mostly understood by a design team, vaguely acknowledged by a production team, and then fully unknown by the construction administration team, which is most responsible for overseeing the implementation of those needs. CONima's mission is to provide a cohesive
team structure that will remain in place from the start of a project
to its completion. By doing this, we can fully translate a client's
needs
and help to realize their identity through the built form. |
